Why do headlights get cloudy?
Headlights differ from the vehicle's paint or metal surfaces. Made of polycarbonate (plastic), they have a shorter lifespan and are more susceptible to aging, cracking, and becoming cloudy.
Exposure of polycarbonate headlights to the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays causes the lens to oxidize, develop microcracks, change color, and crack. Furthermore, the polycarbonate lens is porous and heats up from the light inside (and the sun), causing it to become cloudy. And that's not to mention the sheer amount of salt, dirt, and contaminants the lens is exposed to!
How do I fix cloudy headlights?
Headlight restoration is the answer to cloudy headlights. Depending on the severity of the problem, use abrasives such as Ecoshine F1 Compound , F2 Polish , and Ecoshine F3 Finish to sand the surface.
